Columbia – Lt. Governor Ken Ard is determined to pay back all the donors who feel slighted by his alleged spending of campaign funds on personal expenses. And he’s asking you to help him do it.
“I know I’ve made some mistakes,” said Ard, “but I’m not someone to run away from stuff and things, so if you donated to my campaign and feel you haven’t gotten your money’s worth, please contact me and I’ll see about getting you a full refund.”
Ard has been under fire for allegedly spending money left over in his campaign account for personal expenses. His purchases range from expensive clothing for his wife to a family vacation to lunch at Chick-fil-A. Ard was quoted as saying that he was “trying to recoup” personal expenses from the campaign.
“Unfortunately though,” continued Ard, “I’m in a bit of a cash-poor situation right now, so I’m asking for help from you, my constituents. On Saturday, I’m going to have a table set up in front of the Walmart in Florence, and if you can find it in your heart to help me out of this predicament, please come out and drop some money in the bucket. I’ll also be accepting Walmart gift cards, but I promise you — and I mean it this time — I won’t be spending your money at Walmart. Pinky swear!”
Ard said that he would not be able to issue refunds to donors on Saturday, but if you are someone who contributed to his campaign and you want a refund, to please send a letter or email to the Lt. Governor’s office with the subject line: “I WANT MY MONEY BACK!”
